highlights:
– whole trip was incredible, mainland greece is stunning – what the hell, who knew?? would recommend
– successfully found delicious gyros for only 2 euros. a local asked us how we found it because apparently it’s a secret ‘locals-only’ spot? not so secret when it’s suggested on a reddit thread, but it did make us feel like established athenians.
– narrowly avoided bad weather (athens floods + snow storms)
– can now put chains on car tyres for snow driving
– athens is a bit of a dive but loved it, very cool, would stay for longer next time and just explore the nice food/cafes
lowlights:
– micaela coming to athens sick and getting me sick (3rd time in the past two months ????)
– micaela getting food poisoning and having violent diarrhea and a bathroom door that wouldn’t close. new friendship level reluctantly achieved
– micaela and i finally getting sick of each other when driving from vitsa to athens (6 hours). we recovered the next day.
– getting the car out of 100m of snow without it sliding off the edge of the mountain. could be a highlight, but it was mostly just traumatic.
– spent too many $$$
ok off to france now to hopefully not spend any more money ever again 🙂
