little update —
micaela and I narrowly survived driving out of athens – we only hit one car on the way out!! but it seems the universe is still on my side for now, because there was no visible damage whatsoever. on our car, at least, but I can’t say the same for the other. I followed micaela’s stressed instructions to just get out of there. watch this space for incoming police reports against us. (joking aunty sue!! this is all a joke… I swear).
I switched the car to an automatic at the last minute, thank god :’) Driving on the opposite side is enough chaos for my brain. i’m sure some would find driving a manual car fun through narrow, snowy mountain roads – but it would have been certain death for us.
I had a beautiful birthday, thanks all for the birthday wishes !! we walked around the dreamy little town and then spent hours watching the snow fall over the mountains from the hot tub. the accommodation is unbelievable. on top of the mountain overlooking snowy valleys. panoramic windows all around. who knew greece had this? not us. we did not pack for snow. we’re cold.
